Uh oh, Helldivers 2’s Meridia black hole just destroyed another planet: Moradesh is its second victim as it continues to bear down on Super Earth
Disaster has struck yet again in Helldivers 2’s Galactic War. A second planet has been blown to smithereens by the Meridia black hole/singularity as it continues along its path of destruction towards Super Earth – the Helldivers’ home world.
Yep, while they got plenty of time to kill a bunch of things in the latest major order – even if the action was briefly interrupted while Arrowhead fixed another pesky backend bug – players haven’t been able to stop the big Illuminate death ball from claiming a second victim. Hey, at least the first planet that went pop will now have a buddy in the wiped-out world afterlife.
So, what’s happened this time? Well, at about 5:00 AM UK time today – around the time that latest order ran its course – Arrowhead put out a message making it pretty damn clear what was about to go down. Like, “MORADESH EVACUATION WARNING, EVACUATE PLANET, MORADESH EVACUATION WARNING” repeated several times alongside the words “DESTRUCTION IMMINENT” isn’t very ambiguous, especially given this was the drill when Angel’s Venture was destroyed.
As you’d expect, it was followed a couple of hours later by another message declaring the Moradesh’s signal had been lost. In between, as you can see below, was another instance of the Meridia black hole making a planet go boom.
Naturally, given it means the Illuminate faction that’s behind the moving death ram that is the black hole are one step closer to potentially destroying Super Earth itself, players are taking this seriously. Someone’s recorded the live reaction in the Helldivers 2 Discord server as this happened for posterity, and the shocked Willem Dafoe images were flying about.
“You know, I start to think those Illuminate guys don’t really like us”, one wrote in a thread reflecting on the loss, while another demanded to know: “Were we the feeble young adults?” They’ll need to pick themselves up through – a new order’ll be coming soon, and there should still be a decent number of chances to bring the black hole’s advance to a halt.
