Hollow Knight: Silksong has been mentioned briefly by Xbox, which means all of you are obligated to talk endlessly about whether or not we’ll actually see it this year
Sound the alarms, another breadcrumb of Hollow Knight: Silksong has appeared on the internet. This time, via a new Xbox Wire blog post, in which the game is mentioned among others in games coming in the future as part of ID@Xbox.
The blog states: “No matter where people choose to play, we’re working with developers to make the most of the features unique to that device or screen. Looking ahead, our lineup is incredible with upcoming games like Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, Descenders Next, and FBC: Firebreak to play across the whole Xbox universe… and of course Hollow Knight: Silksong too!”
This is the latest cheeky mention of Silksong since earlier this year, when desperate fans were looking into cake recipies in order to glean the date of the next major update on the game’s development. It turns out this was a red herring, and there’s still no word as to when we’ll see Silksong again. This meager mention is all the fans have to go off, pity them, do not mock.
Because somewhere, a lonely housewife is speaking to her mother. Speaking again about her worries. Her husband, lurking in the study, stares longingly at a poster of Hornet, trying to etch her needle and horns into memory. As memories of youth, of love and success fade into the mist, her sillouette exists in perfect clarity. He will see her again somehow, some day.
Hollow Knight: Silksong was first a backer reward for the original Hollow Knight kickstarter as DLC. Team Cherry, with high ambitions, decided instead to turn this expansion into a whole new game. Revealed as a sequel back in 2019. Since then, we’ve got some character designs and other smaller updates, but for the past few years there’s been very little in terms of actual news. This has resulted in an intense hunger from fans of the excellent first game, living for little else than to feel the plastic of Hollow Knight: Silksong in their hands.
But, the game is still in development as far as we know, so there’s hope still at least. Will we see it this year? I don’t know man. I strongly believe my approach to the matter is the best. To me, Silksong does not exist until I see it. Schrodinger’s Silksong. As long as it’s being developed in a closed off room miles away from me, it both doesn’t exist at all and exists all at once. It’s only once the box is opened, when a new trailer comes out, that I will acknowledge it’s existence and will permit myself to be excited.
When do you think we’ll see Silksong? 2025? 2026? Never? Let us know below!
