“You’ll be needing them for the fight to come” Helldivers 2 dev Arrowhead reveals when it’ll announce its next Warbond, and teases “more exciting news” soon

If you’ve been wondering when Helldivers 2 will get its next batch of fresh content, the good news is that Arrowhead’s broken its silence. The studio’s revealed that you can expect the next Warbond to be announced on May 8, as well as teasing “more exciting news to come not long after”.

This annoucement’s come as players have been thirsting for updates as to when to expect new stuff to drop in the game, with the currently raging battle to halt the Meridian Singularity having started to get a bit stale in their view.

“We know it’s been a while since our last update, fear not – we are cooking,” Arrowhead wrote in a statement it’s posted to the socials.

“You may have noticed that the gap between our major updates and Warbond releases is a little longer this time. But we’re happy to say we’ll be announcing our next Warbond on May 8, and there will be more exciting news to come not long after.

“We won’t stand on ceremony too much in revealing what that Warbond might be, but you’ll hear more from us soon. Until then: stand up straight, polish those boots and keep that uniform in tip-top condition, Helldivers. You’ll be needing them for the fight to come.”

So, no word as to what the theme or contents of this next Warbond will be, but certainly laying it on thick with the teases in terms of both that and there being something brewing beyond it. Last night on the game’s Discord server, so before this update post, Arrowhead CEO Shams Jorjani was just as bullish in terms of teasing what the studio’s got in the pipeline, telling one player who asked: “You’ll s**t your pants.”

Folks’ll be hoping this brown trousers time ends up being a big twist in the Galactic War, perhaps via a fresh faction, enemies, or environments. It’s always important to take leaks with a grain of salt, but I did see one recently suggest an “Illuminate Invasion of Super Earth” could be being tested.

We’ll just have to see what comes to pass, but it sounds like a good call to knock the rust off soon if you’ve tuned out of the Galactic War a bit in recent months.
